What's the best way to find good sitter for an infant? We had a sitter who watched our first out of her house with other kids until she was 2. We planned to send our second one there but she just told us she is retiring, so we are trying to find someone who does same.

Does your wife have any friends in the neighborhood or her mom's group that she can ask?

Try trading nights out with another couple with an infant. One couple goes out, the other takes both kids, next weekend do the reverse

Take the kid to any Fire Station.

They'll watch it for nothing.

Not really helpful if you are searching for one-on-one, but if you want in-home daycare those people have to register with the state too. My mother-in-law does it and gets annual visits to make sure her house is safe for kids and all. You should be able to find something like registered care providers through DSS.

OT answer: Target bathrooms

Real answer: send a flyer to OLOL/LSU/SLU nursing schools.
They probably have students that are interested in labor and delivery and would love to babysit
