Avery Island this time of year

Is Avery Island worth an hour or two this time of year, or is it better in Spring/Summer? It'd only be about a 45 minute drive and I've never been. Is there much of interest besides the Tabasco Plantation?

Gray I was on the team that put that 7k on. Headed to Memphis next week for St Jude's half marathon.
