And he's also forgetting the London bombings, Madrid bombings, etc. But I guess those are irrelevant because US measures at combating these kinds of attacks are infallible. Or the perpetrators will always fail due to incompetence when they slip by.

So what is your solution for all of this? How do we keep little Billy and Sally from getting beheaded?

I don't see how me giving Germany shite for their past transgressions is making a passive-aggressive Jew joke and it's not like all of Germany's past human rights violations were against Jews.

I thought it was funny that people always ask why Muslims don't condemn extremism (even though they do) and the most recent large scale statement came from Germany.

If that offends you, then you should take up alcohol or drugs.

I never suggested there is some simple "solution" because there isn't. I can tell you what is untruthful and only serves to make us more vulnerable, and that is suggesting that we are impervious to being attacked at home, which is what my remarks were in response to.

Please don't try and make the fallacious argument that I must have a solution to criticize invalid or untrue statements.

I think we should go to war with Iran over this. frick it, it's time we just take on the whole Middle East.

Let's make this one fifty years. And let's only use drones.

What good would that do in stopping ISIS? It would solve the Hamas & Hezbollah problem for sure, but not ISIS.

I know you're not serious with this. but I am curious. What in your opinion would stop all this madness in the Middle East?

Quit trying to put words in my mouth to deflect from your own ignorant remarks.

There are any number of legitimate viewpoints in how best to confront radical Islam in all its varying forms and factions. All have weaknesses and strengths and there is no single "right" answer. Again, how goddamn old are you? Have you never had an adult conversation about politics or foreign affairs before?

I'm not using this thread to advocate some particular policy in combating radical Islam. You seem to be gunning for a straw man.

This is Imperialism, Darth. Details are for the pocket protectors.

I don't know how to stop crazy other than killing it, and I'm not sure how we go about that without much collateral damage.

I think the clout of this group is vastly overplayed. It's just some band of hyper-religious thugs. They pull this shite here, I will be stunned. I just don't see it.

Why use these ridiculous and sensational argumentative tactics when people highlight real and tangible threats? Why would anyone want to engage you in an honest and reasonable discussion when you present yourself as a less than honest and reasonable person when it comes to persons who don't share your perspective?

It's meant to show the absurdity of the overreaction to this marginal group of primitive thugs that have no real reach outside of their caveman societies. People are treating these fricks like some sort of formidable nation-state opposition.

There are now millions of Americans that fear this group is going to bring their band of beards to the US, and that they will see beheadings in Times Square if we do not stop them. It's all absurd.

I was thinking about that the other day. I know a ton of people with a good bit of guns. A few of us, like myself are pretty darn Liberal too and still have a few. Hell I am pro gun control and ammo limits and still have four.

Nah man, I'm just a simple bumpkin that served my country who is now trying to live a simple life. It's obvious I could never get to your level of understanding the ins and outs of the threat ISIS poses and how or what our country's leaders are doing to handle it.

I say this all the time. In fact we can lax security measures a bit.

From now on if someone tries to take a plane, I expect a sizable amount of the passengers to intervene.

My fear now is more centered on ships and people using them to transport things/weapons etc.

A ship carrying a dirty bomb could easily get close and then meet with a fishing vessel or even have legitimate cargo.

We scan all the legal cargo but there has to be contraband coming off.

Or you can take a full LPG or oil tanker and ram it into a seaside city or town.

Once it's underway it's hard to stop.

I know exactly what you are trying to do, no need to elaborate. You are trying to make a mockery of people who take a differing perspective than you by portraying their opinions as far more ridiculous and sensational than they are. It's a dishonest and childish tactic.
