This post wasn't political at all, I think that poster is just a troll trying to derail the thread. Hell, isn't korkstand a liberal? He's railing against this crap.

Korkstand is for freedom and logic on all things politics. If that makes him a liberal so be it.

Those words do not apply to liberals, so you must not be a liberal.

I’ve driven through several toll plazas that do this.

Paying a toll that everyone is required to pay to use a roadway is nothing like receiving a traffic violation via mail.

I think you missed the point. There’s quite a few stretches of highways with tollbooths where the time stamps from entrance onto the toll road and the time you reach the toll plaza to pay upon exit are used to determine your average speed. If your time is less than it takes had you obeyed the speed limit there are locations where you’ll either get a ticket mailed to you or in some cases get pulled over the second you leave the tollbooth. I’d have to assume those tickets have at some point been challenged.

They tried to stop the Henderson Police Department from issuing speeding citations. The state representatives felt it was a money grab.

The state is basically doing the same thing except they do not pull you over.

It is all in the name of making money.

mail a ticket to any vehicle larger than a tacoma that gets out of the right lane

So make the left lane for females only? I’ll get my lawyer to start prepping the gender discrimination lawsuit now.

That's ONE factor....among other contributing factors are 1. construction/maintenance is a top priority 2. ALL vehicles are thoroughly/completely inspected on a yearly basis, those that 'fail' the 'Tuff' inspection are not allowed back on the roads until certified as mechanically 'safe' and efficient 3. driving is NOT a right, it has to be 'earned' via a months long training process which is very expensive...giving you a well 'educated' driving population that generally follow the rules of the road as any citations are both harsh and expensive...no one drives w/o a valid license/insurance 4. trucks are not allowed in passing lanes and have a mandated LOWER SPEED limit....just try to get these common sense laws passed/enforced in our country...LOL

And as proven by numerous studies, it's not the speed of traffic that's dangerous, but the difference in speed between the fastest and slowest drivers that causes most accidents.

Umm, no, distracted driving and speeding are the cause of most crashes. Unless you want to play with words and say that every accident is caused by a difference in speed between the vehicles that crash.

This law will also not only not reduce accidents and fatalities, but it will very likely increase them due to forced crowding of the roads and giving drivers something stupid to pay close attention to rather than the road.

So your argument is that people will crash more because they are trying to figure out how fast they are driving instead of watching the road? I'm not a big fan of lowering the speed, but I can say that without making stuff up.

How about if you're in the left lane for more than 6 seconds and not actively passing a car, you get a fricking ticket? That would reduce traffic and accidents.

ALL ELSE EQUAL, some drivers at 70 and some at 60 is more dangerous than all drivers at 70. Do you disagree?

That, and the bridge will be more crowded due to the reduced speed and disincentive to pass.

When that "law firm" contacts you, it's from an unlisted number with a BR city government prefix..
