About a year out of high school. Everything people told me growing up was alot of BS. Trusted my own judgment from that point on. Did ok well until I got married.

The OT always knows what they are doing. If it wasn't for the OT, I'd be probably be considered trashy.

Just wait for the age when you realize that some people do know what they are talking about and the actual trick is deciding who has actual knowledge and who is a blowhard.

Not everybody in the world is wrong, the OP needs to find better comrades.

If you run with productive, successful, high-quality folks, the ensemble compliments and polices itself.

My peers' negative opinions would matter to me as their the folks who run the community and state.
My negative opinion of them would matter to them.

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I'd say probably somewhere in my late 20's early 30's I realized people were dumb and it wasn't just me.

You might want to explore if they feel about you the same.

This is the way a 20 something year old thinks, basically.

A truly wise man realizes he doesn't know everything.

I'm older than twentysomething. And I'm fully aware that I don't know everything. Not even close. But it often seems that nobody else knows anything.

ETA: For me, it was when my grandfather died when I was 12, and all the adults were trying to explain to me that it was part of God's plan. I instinctively knew they were full of shite. There was no reason for it, except that life takes a giant dump on you once in a while.
