I don't understand how you still have posting privileges.

Because people can't have opinions on burial practices?

It's YOU who should be banned for your insistence on censorship.

When I suggested that we cremate my dad, my stepmother told me that he'd go to hell if she did that. I chuckled and walked out of the room.

Is this also why MSTiger33 is feeling flamed?

Not really.

Older graveyards are more of an issue due to the fact that arsenic used to be the main ingredient in embalming.

Asphalt roadways present more of an environmental issue than graveyards.

Rex, if you can walk through Hollywood Cemetery and honestly tell me any man wouldn't be proud to be buried there, you are worse off than I thought.

I've hiked through Hollywood Cemetery a couple of times. Amazing place. Would be even more beautiful as a LIVING place.

I want to be cremated. I figure as long as my soul is going to burn, might as well burn my body.

I tend to agree with you on this. Large cemetery like rest haven in Baton Rouge are a huge waste of space.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate old ones like highland cemetery right near lsu. But to think that someone will be taking care of a place like rest haven for eternity, long after anyone cares about 99.999% of the people in there is absurd to me. I told my wife I want to be buried in a wooden box on family property with a live oak planted over me.

I don't understand how there are 5 people (presumably including Rex himself) that thought it was worth down voting my comment that Rex is an idiot.

I don't disagree with the assertion in your thread title, but this supporting statement makes you sound like a cuck.

My parents and myself have chosen to donate our remains to Univ. of Memphis. Free corpse disposal, they will come pickup when notified we are ready. The corpse will then be used for teaching and research.

Screw the funeral industry and benefit science at same time.

Rex, I assume you want to be cremated. Could we take a vote with regard to the date of your cremation? I vote tomorrow.

Kind of a moot point in NOLA. I'm probably going to be buried in my family tomb in Metry Cemetery. Unless my wife has a better idea.
