I won't support the LSU band until they learn how to haze these band snowflakes properly, like FAMU.

Who said that? I said take a few minutes to visit the folks in the shelter (on campus/THE FIELD HOUSE) and play a couple of songs for them. THE FOOTBALL TEAM DID JUST THAT.
Who said "donate their instruments?" They could of easily LOANED some instruments to the Ascension parish band students who were in need (especially since Ascension parish has loaned the LSU band instruments to get them through alumni band many times).

Seriously dude, why is all of this so personal for you? I do not know how the organization of the band works, but I know the football team has been together since August 3rd so they were already together.

Why does this really upset you? Do you need to talk about something?

Simple....I read on facebook a number of posts of band parents who were livid about the band administration calling for the start of band camp at that time (some because they were needed at home to help, some because of road hazards, and some because of both.

Because I care about the well being of the band...been a fan for many many years.

I read an email thread from the LSU administration that the band was given permission to start camp on Tuesday August 16th "with those who were already on campus." Instead, the jackasses in charge sent out a message for everyone to show up. Very dishonest and sad. Putting those kids at risk....for what???

Trust me, nobody at band camp was "at risk," and if they were, they are college aged adults. If they are in a situation that is somehow labeled "at risk" and still can't use there own personal judgement, mayyyybe they better off on there own

Dude, go start a Change.org petition.

We don't care about your personal agenda with the current band directors.

Are you Roy King? Be honest with us. You sure do have more than just a "I'm a fan" vibe to your posts.

Not your call. But remember, the Governor and the State Police were telling Louisiana citizens to stay off the roads because it was dangerous!! But....you want us to trust YOU and not these state officials? mmmmm.......I'm going with the state officials. Sorry.

Pretty sure the emergency status was pretty severe following Katrina and we still reported then. What did we have, 3 maybe 4 days off? I think the university is obligated to bring normalcy as soon as it's safe to do so. Campus is always the first priority for power restoration and becomes one of the safest places for students to be following these types of events. Had Tiger Band not kept me busy following Katrina, I probably would have gone insane worrying about the house in Nola.

The difference was Baton Rouge was not affected (that much) by Katrina. Also, the Governor and State Police were NOT telling us to stay off the roads.

Exactly..."as soon as it's safe to do so."

Correct. However, our state officials were telling us to "shelter in place" because so many roads were unsafe for travel. Don't you see the danger in telling that many college students to TRAVEL to campus from wherever? It was a very bad decision and someone should answer for it.

No but I'm a big fan. Known him for many years and he is a very nice man. If there was a fan club, I would be a member. I'm also a big fan of Linda Saccier who used to work in their office. I met her a number of times and LSU lost a great lady when she left.

OK - you just tipped your hand.

It's fine that you're a fan of the previous administration and are jostled because of the raw deal they got. But now it's time to move on.

This straw man of a crusade you've presented is a pretty transparent vehicle for your criticism of the current admin. Why don't you just put that out there instead of your phony concerns about giving away a few dinged up, semi-unplayable instruments?

If you're really so damn concerned, make a hefty donation to the TGBFTL, get a seat at the table, and call your shots.

Sheesh!

I have donated to the band (more than once).

Those "alumni instruments" are in good condition....according to my inside source.

I have no problem with someone knowing my feelings about the previous administration. But facts are facts. Read what I have posted and decide for yourself. How I feel about these asshats in charge has nothing to do with the facts.

In all fairness, that loaner piccolo they gave me for alumni band last year was pretty craptastic. A serious flutist wouldn't want that. And EA, dutchtown and Zachary have some great players. I would rather buy them one than get the reject for the stale alumni.

Ps: the serious players probably had their instruments home with them over the weekend... They're practicing for all state and college auditions :)

Other than starting camp on time, what information does your source tell you that qualifies them to be asshats?

LSU has helped my local school due to flooding with more than one gesture that means the world to those students. I am sorry you are unaware of their generosity and that somehow because it wasn't publicized LSU is the "bad guy".

Agreed. The horns I've been loaned in the past had valves completely frozen, missing parts and were of much worse quality than I would care to play longer than 1 halftime show.
