The article states, "She reportedly told police she was on her way home after school administrators sent her home."

Looking at the address listed for her first DWI a few months ago, the place she got into a wreck is no where near her house. In fact, she had to leave the school and drive past her house to get to the scene of the accident. I'm guessing nothing she stated was true.

Can the school be liable for sending her home knowing she was drunk as Cooter Brown?

This. But it was a page and a half of idiot comments before anybody comprehended the most interesting part of the story.

Horrible decision by the school (and of course the teacher as well but don't expect rational decisions from drunks).

The only word we have is from the teacher who was drunk at work on a Monday. So let's take that and run with it...

Don't associate this with any of the Ascension Public schools. I'm sure the administration would've found her a ride to her place.

They do their own thing at Ascension Christian.

You bet your arse if she would have killed someone after the her employer told her to leave because she was drunk, they would get sued and I would be willing to bet it gets to a jury under those facts. That is piss poor judgment by the school knowing she's drunk and letting her drive away, assuming those are the facts

I'm sure the school is probably going to get sued anyway, regardless of the fact that no one died in the incident. The fact that someone died vs. someone got injured doesn't matter, or shouldn't matter. Now, whether the case eventually gets to a jury, well, that kind of depends on the judge that the case eventually gets assigned to and also additional facts which we don't know at this time.
