As of July 25, 654 people have been killed by American police in 2015

Here's the details.
And at the rate we're going, 2015 is on pace to see far more American's killed by police than died in any one year of the Iraq War.... BY A PRETTY WIDE MARGIN.

And here's how we compare to other countries....

The Guardian is taking pains to place the numbers it is gathering in a global context. For example, in the last 24 years there have been 55 fatal police shootings in England and Wales. There were 59 fatal police shootings in the United States in the first 24 days of this year. Iceland has had one fatal police shooting in the last 71 years. Stockton, California, which has a population smaller than Iceland’s had three fatal police shootings in the first five months of this year. Australia had 94 fatal police shootings from 1992 through 2011. The United States had 97 fatal police shootings in March. So far this year in California, police have fatally shot 106 people. Police in Texas have shot and killed 67.

Sounds like there's more people failing to comply.
Mess with the bull, you get the horns.

Sadly, that is the mindset of many police nowadays. DOn't comply = shoot.
"oooh, I feared for my life (even though the suspect was running away)

How many were justified?

So what you're saying is if a cop tells someone to do some and they don't comply in what he considers a suitable manner he's in the clear to go ahead and execute them on the spot?

How many of these cops were arrested, charged and convicted?

The article does not say, it only gives the total number killed. I just found that number astounding. Think about it, at the height of the Iraq war, we had 904 people die in one year there. But here at home we're on pace to have around 1,200 killed here in the US. That just amazes me.

Maybe we can make it to 1000?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say less than 5% were found culpable in any way.

I don't give a shite about all that.
Show me the numbers where the cops are shooting innocent people.

According to one of the links I shared in the OP.....
quote:
The Washington Post has also begun a similar, unnamed project. In a June 30 story, the Post reported that dozens of people “died while fleeing from police, the Post analysis shows, including a significant proportion – 20 percent – of those who were unarmed. Running is such a provocative act that police experts say there is a name for the injury officers inflict on suspects afterward: A ‘foot tax.’” The Post also reports that “less than one percent” of police officers who shoot and kill are charged with a crime.

What are we supposed to take away from this- that america has more criminals than Europe?

.00000377
Based on that 1200 number, that's the percent of the population we're talking about. The vast majority of them got what they deserved, and I'm 100% in favor of nailing cops who abuse their authority so don't even start with that crap.

Assuming 350,000,000 people make up the population of the United States, that would be .00000187% of the overall population.
This is not a fricking epidemic, people.

Then get the hell out of the thread and stop looking for a argument where there's not one to be had. This thread is nothing more than information. I saw a story about the total number of people killed by police in 2015 and the number amazed me. Nothing more, nothing less.
How about instead of looking to be a try-hard dick on the internet always looking to get into an argument, you just shut your fricking mouth, read the fricking links, and then be on your merry fricking way.

damn, I edited from 3% to 5%, but my initial instincts told me to put 1.
It's ludicrous for anyone to think out of 650 killings only 6 could possibly have been malicious.
