Serious. Why do the Kennedys occupy a huge space near the eternal flame? Seams that it is a bit much even though they are a storied family. JFK I get but the others around there????

The eternal flame is FOR JFK at his widow's request, it's not like it existed beforehand and he was buried near it.

Because the eternal flame is for Kennedy. Is this a trick question?

The eternal flame was put in for JFK.

Also, assassinated sitting presidents who also served in war tend to get larger spaces....

I'm cool with it the presidency needs more JFK's. I'll be dead but very proud to be buried on the same grounds as the Kennedy's.

Lee married into the Custis family (a descendant of George Washington) and Arlington House became known as The Custis-Lee Mansion

Yea it's Robert E. Lee

I forget which Union General it was, one who was originally from the South

Lincoln told him to find a new place to bury the dead bc the military graveyard in DC was full. He chose Lee's house so no one could ever live there again
