I know a guy who isn't because he says that if you are, they won't try to bring you back as much as they would a non organ donor just so they can harvest you. This is complete bullshite right?

I would imagine most people are organ donors. If it's my time to go, so be it. No mark on my ID will change that. Hopefully someone else can benefit from it.

I am, but kind of doubtful that I have anything that will be of use. I haven't been kind to my organs.

Your friends ignorant because if they let you die, they can't use your organs.

Edit: This is kind of a serious point for me. I've been in the OR for multiple organ recoveries and currently work in the field. You have to be brain dead or alive but way beyond recovery to be an actual organ donor. If you die(cardiac death) you cannot donate organs and can only donate tissues (skin, bone, corneas, veins, etc). Those things are not scarce and are nothing you'd be allowed to die over.

Its an unpopular opinion but no I'm not. I don't want to be, just like I don't want to be cremated.

You better be related, or have a bunch of cash. I'm not giving any of my organs up. They are getting cooked with the rest of me when I go. Why would you donate organs so a doctor/hospital can make all sorts of cash from your "donation".

I wish I could see how many knots can be made in my intestine or how large someone can blow up my bladder.

Became one a few years ago. I'll probably go back to not being a donor in a few years and then switch back to being one in a decade.

Oh, I don't know, so that the evil Doctor/hospital can save someone else's life?

yep. I don't care if they bring me back. Just don't steal my wallet until I flatline. Give me that much.

It's true. If you're a non-donor the doctors and nurses go full out to save you. But when you're a donor, they give only like 80% effort.

One of the medical field's dirty little secrets.

I won't commit to your question but the gift of organs is truly the gift of life. My father was the recipient of a liver that gave him an extra 6 years.. The young man who passed in a motorcycle accident had the legacy of my father and 2 others that are still living from his heart and kidneys...

Just FYI, none of your doctors know or care I'f you're a donor. The question only comes up when you're brain dead.
