It seems like the US has become such a damned "look at me" at all times everyday culture, and everything people do seems to be motivated by that desire to be in that position that everyone wants to look at.

Do you think this selfish culture is toxic and will lead us down a darker path?

I'm just feeling exhausted by the lack of empathy people have for other people. Its like anyone will step on anyone to get the next leg up, and then to save face they'll just put on the "charitable" side when its pleasant and easy.

We were born into the world by saying "frick off, England". What do you expect from us?

Most people are on the world, not in it—have no conscious sympathy or relationship to anything about them—undiffused, separate, and rigidly alone like marbles of polished stone, touching but separate. John Muir

That's why most countries hate our guts. Because 90% of Americans are spoiled brats who care about nobody but themselves. And of course because we are a free country. But it looks like communism will be in full force in America in about 5 or so years as well.

Absolutely, I myself take this country for granted every minute of the day. Considering what other people have to do to survive everyday and here I am not struggling at all compared to probably ninety percent of the world's population.

Or how about have we become a "nation of entitlement, laziness, and honor has gone too shite".

This depends on who you ask?

Per capita, we're the 2nd most charitable nation on Earth. LINK

I completely disagree w/ the idea that it will lead us down a dark path. That "selfish culture" is what allowed us to be so charitable and benefit the poor so much.

The real selfish pricks in this nation that are leading us down a dark path are in government.

The loud ones create the perception. The quiet ones do the work as normal. It's easy to call us selfish assholes that are self-centered, because TV... etc.

The summation of our actions prove otherwise. That's just the bottom f'king line for now. At least we have SOMETHING -right- going on, still.

Wtf?

Seems like we have far more compassion than most countries for others.

No "perception" about it at all. I get part of my earnings taken from me by force every single year in order to fund their vote harvesting schemes.

I'm not saying that everyone in government has the kind of selfishness that is leading us down a dark path. I am, however, saying most selfish people that are leading us down a dark path are in government.
