These type of things have been available with programmable thermostats for 20 years basically. You can set nearly everything you like anytime of day or night and viola.

That is just one more thing on my phone I have to keep up with.
I like to set and forget

the basic wifi thermostats just give you that added flexibility of doing it from anywhere in the world and don't cost much more (unless you're getting a fancy nest or ecobee) than the 7-day programmable.

I bought them so that I wouldn't have to crawl my arse up a ladder as often to replace.
Also the lower heat (or rechanneled heat) they produce is nice.
Never cared about the power savings. If they are cheaper to operate, thats fine.

I have had one of those and it has not burned out yet in nine years. And the light is on pretty frequently. I replace regular bulbs with LEDs as they burn out

CAD here convincing people how easy technology is and how with just a few tweaks you can do this kinda stuff. Strange how he will bitch and complain about Amazon Alexa being too confusing for him to use, bitches about it when he doesn't have Prime and then talks about wanting stuff to "just work," like it's Apple.

Mr. Tech here didn't bother to research whether it needed to be plugged in in order for it to work. The irony factor here on a scale of 1-10 is about 1,938 or so.

I sell led

You want something between 2700k and 3000k color temperature, anyone who is saying daylight is crazy.

Don't buy them online, at Home Depot or lowe's or from some start up led company. Go talk to a professional at a lighting/electrical supply and talk to them about what kind of look you want, what you want your dimming capabilities to be, etc.

Buying from the right guys ensures that you have a place to return them in case of defect or warranty issues, it ensures you get the right thing the first time, and ensures that you will be buying a reputable brand who stands behind their product.

Were they around 22 years ago? How could anyone know they last that long?

Built my house 7 1/2 years ago without LED and 90% of them are still burning. Don't see where the LED saves you that much even in the annual watt usage.

66 recessed cans going from 65w to 9w would absolutely show significant savings on a retrofit. New construction would see an even faster ROI.

You have been pissing away money for 7.5 years

Well, considering one standard incandescent bulb consumes the same amount of electricity as 6 LED equivalents I'd say you're wrong. If you have a lot of recessed lights and outdoor lights that stay on a lot it's definitely worth the switch.

My entire house is LED. All exterior spot lights and all I nterior lights, if turned on at the same time, only add up to 880 watts total. At my last house, the 2 exterior halogen spot lights alone were 600 watts!
