Are CPA firms one of the worst places to work?

I’ve been working at one for seven months
, and it’s been absolutely miserable. I’ve hated my life since I started here. My supervisors are not very helpful, and they’re kind of dicks honestly. They tell me to ask questions, but then they get pissy and look at me like I’m stupid if I ask a question. The whole thing stinks.
I guess that must be why CPA firms are always hiring and desperate for new people.
Any of you guys have a terrible experience at a CPA firm?

Worst? You work at a desk with air-conditioning.

Yeah they suck but stick it out and it’s good experience and a resume booster.

Do four years, pass the CPA while there, get out and go to corporate in a small/mid-sized business.
You're welcome.
You're welcome.

It could be worse. You could be over 300 pounds, an alcoholic, and married to an ugly woman named Vera none of your friends have ever seen.

Yes. I was an auditor at a firm in Baton Rouge. The worst.

The opposite experience. I've generally enjoyed it and have been at a Big Four firm for about a decade now and plan to stay until they fire me or promote me to partner. are you working in tax?

You’re at the wrong firm bud. There are many like that though.

That, big law, and investment banking are miserable existences

Nike factories are probably worse.

Most of corporate America sucks.

Not if you’re female. Then it’s fulfilling and your dream.

Become an internal auditor... yes, you will still be miserable, but you can make everyone else miserable as well.

CPA firms give me gas.
I love when they visit for audits. The conference room that catches all the afternoon sunlight and has the worst ventilation is always reserved for them. No one else even uses this conference room.

That was funny before 2020. Who audits onsite these days?

Worked at big 4 with some really cool people and really awful people. The job sucked, some of the people sucked, and we all lied to each other about how happy we were and how great the work life balance is.
