Are clip-on ties trashy but clip-on bowties aren't?

Was at a fairly big wedding this past weekend and some of us got to talking about this.

I only have a standard bow tie because it was a gift a few years back. Most others had clip on bowties for the tuxedos and it seemed to be non-trashy for them.

Clip on bow ties are also trashy. But I also only wear bow ties with a tux - not a big fan of bow ties with a suit.

Neither are trashy.

Both are lazy. If you're a grown man, you shouldn't wear clip on ties.

All clip-on ties are trashy. Be a man and learn how to tie a straight tie and a bow tie.

I'm not sure there is anything on this planet that had given me more anxiety than when I first attempted to do this

It's not that much different than tying your shoes. I get that you may not do it as often, so the muscle memory isn't really there, but it's not a difficult thing to do.

Wearing a bow-tie when not wearing a tux is about the biggest try-hard "look at me" thing you can do.
