Are baseball/trading cards worth anything anymore?

I have around 10 shoe boxes full of cards that range from about 10 years old to about 30 years old. I have Mark McGwire rookie, Michael Jordan rookie, Ken Griffey Jr. rookie, and a bunch of others.

Are any cards worth a shite anymore?

If so, which brands are worth more than others?

I wouldn't mind going through them and making a few hundred bucks at a card shop.

oh and most of them are in plastic sleeves and are in good condition. The rookies are all in hard plastic covers which is something my dad told me to do when I was about 8 and I thankful he did.

Not really, It turns out everybody has a shoe box with those same cards in it so there aren't many valuable ones any more.

I tried. Don't know what to google besides the card itself and they are back home Baton Rouge. I am just curious as to what brands are still worth a shite...

I'm pretty sure I read an article just the other day about a Michael Jordan rookie card going for $200,000. I will see if I can find it.

yeah i've got the same shoeboxes too

should have sold them all when i was 14 for what beckett said they were worth

but every kid had a dream...we saw what those prices for 1964 cards and we were making our very first investment

what we didn't understand was the simple concept of supply & demand

damn I can't remember what mine looks like. If it looks like that I will sell it in a heartbeat. It would probably be rated in "good" condition so maybe I'll sell it for a couple grand. Wouldn't that be sweet?

You should pick up a copy of Beckett Sports Card Monthly. That's what I used for pricing back when I was younger and collecting cards. It looks like they still make it, and that far less people care about cards than they did even 10 years ago.

I'm still bitter that the trade shows in Baton Rouge were infiltrated and crushed by the Beanie Baby fad. That was terrible.

False. It's an advertising rag for the card manufacturers. Do a completed auction search on eBay. THAT is what a card is worth.

And.... unless have something EXCEPTIONALLY rare (like Frank Thomas' Topps rookie without the name on the front), anything produced from 1984 to the present isn't worth much, really.

So I'm not going to be able to retire on my 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card????

Upper Deck? I remember that card was worth a good bit at one time..

But I don't think they hold the same value unless you have some of the really old cards.

NO, I used to collect them and put all my best ones in a booklet w/ sleeves and I've taken them to several card shows and they aren't worth a thing, I have good players w/ rookie cards as well.

you have come to the right place my friend. I collect all things baseball, been collecting cards since 93'. Like everything right now the market is down but yes they still have value.

MLBPA now have an exclusive contract with Topps brand of baseball cards do t the fact card companies were just going crazy w/ different brands, gu stuff, cut autos etc. Give 89 UD griffey rc 5 more years and it'll be back up to $200.

lmk if you are interested in getting rid of these, i'm always looking to buy
