Oh and to stay on topic I always do plain cases that are simple and help protect the phone. None of those overly girly ones(that many times don't really protect the phone as well).

I have that same one in black. Have had two generations of the same case, best I've found. Not bulky yet extremely shock resistant, the subtle bevel protects the screen without having anything covering the glass

Same here.
Only downside....the clear part of the case starts yellowing a little at some point. My last tech21 was on my iPhone5 for over 2 years...lasted great...but def had yellowed a lot.
ETA: I've also become a huge fan of the newer screen protectors that are made of glass. Can get them cheap off amazon, easy to apply...and they work very well. Instead of cracking your screen...the protector cracks. Still keeps the glossy surface of the phone(some of those film screen protectors take away from that feel).

I have a Grovemade maple bumper with a leather back I got from a guy in Bulgaria off of etsy.
The leather is much darker now. I sand the wood every now and then to keep it light colored.
