Would you not be curious how much your rental property might actually rent for before you bought it?

Well if that's what he's talking about, then that is a poorly worded post. And still a dumb question because there are a lot of factors that would go into determining rent.

Besides, this is the lowly area of Highland Road we're talking about here, not some fancy pants neighborhood in the oasis of Metry. So what are you doing in this thread?

Also, total side note, but I'm creating an app that helps you find an apartment and naming it "Appartment." I'm calling dibs, so no one else can take it.

It's pretty obvious. You can just admit that you made a booboo trying to berate him.

I think they call it "Realtor", "Trulia", "Zillow", or "Craigslist". Not sure tho

Twenty years from now, kids are going to be saying "What's a Zillow?" because Appartment is going to dominate the market.

Trulia will be the new AskJeeves and Realtor.com will go the way of HD DVD.

If it was one of the newer places then you could easily get 2500-2700.. A lot will depend on the perceived security of the apt complex and any amenities other than location.

Seriously? That place is a dump. My friend stayed there when we were at LSU in the 90s and it was $400/month!

That is pretty close considering how far people park for the game or to tailgate. That sort of parking comes in clutch in the fall.

OP, dont expect LSU football to drive the cost of rent. There are plenty of competitive apartments for rent just as close. Do some market research and see what other complexes are charging in the same area.

Also keep in mind the taxes you will be paying as a landlord and on your new income.
