My wife and I used to love going to FQF and spending the day in the Quarter. However, with all the random crime happening at night and even in broad daylight, we hardly ever go down there at all anymore. We don't go to any events downtown due to potentially being a random victim. Also, the abundance of gutter punks and panhandlers don't help out either. Anyone else avoiding the Quarter now?

No, I didn't go due to it being overrated.

No I refuse to restrict my life due to a "chance" something will happen.

Would be the same as people not traveling to Europe due to the chance of a terror attack.

I went Friday and Saturday, I didn't even die

I typically avoid the French Quarter because it sucks, not because I'm afraid that I'm going to be murdered.

It broke every record in the books with attendance. I feel sorry for people that live in fear of the bogey man.

I went. Hardly ever felt nervous about walking anywhere.

I feel more nervous around the "loiterers" outside Beale St. at night tbh.

Saturday was nice.
Good crowd. Nobody got shot.

Good food too.

Or in Jordan Spieth's case, the quadruple bogey man.

I have a Hood Pass in Memphis. No one bothers me there.

So I would assume you never drive anywhere either, since you might get in a random accident.

Re going downtown Nola in general, we don't avoid it because of that, but it's a factor against.

had the car loaded with womens. Headed that way. Saw the traffic Saturday at the Pontchatoula exit for the Strawberry Fest wasn't anyway near as bad as predicted and opted to try it out instead. We stayed all day and had a decent time and didn't really have to worry about violence. It was just me and 3 females.
