can you let the jack down and block it up with something?

Put a 2x4 or 4x4 or some bricks or something under the jack.
Stable though and use some jack stands if you have them

You don't have a board or anything stable you could lift the jack up higher with you?

I don't have any boards but maybe some people around here have some laying out by the road for trash. I pulled into someone's driveway to fix it so hopefully I don't get shot haha

So I would have to put the flat back on to do this right? Haha

Put flat back on
Lower it back down
Find piece of wood or some bricks or something similar
Put under jack
Problem solved

If Jack helped you off your horse, would you help Jack off his?

Are you putting the jack in the correct place?

My GP's have some bricks stacked along the backside of their house. Just go rooting around in backyards and I'm sure you'll find them.

Walk to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap floor jack.

This was my first thought.
Unless you've got a jacked up truck/tires, the factory jack that comes with the truck should be sufficient.
Consult your owners manual if you're unsure of the right spot to place the jack.
