Never have, but I hear that the volunteers get more out of it than the kids. Said it is a truly rewarding service watching them.

This was Ascension Parish state qualifying. There are many others.

Just Google louisiana special olympics, I am sure you can get all the info you want.

I have a cousin with Downs, and i've been invited to see him compete a few times, but work has prevented that from happening.... i'd LOVE to get involved with it, but don't know if i could because of how emotional i get with things like this....

hell, there's many times watching fricking ESPN and their little stories and shite that i get watery eyed....

I've participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for a number of years. It is a very rewarding thing to do. I really enjoy myself each time I do it.

It is actually not "emotional" at all. What I mean is, you don't get that overwhelming feeling to cry, it is more like a party, everyone having fun. After you leave, the feeling will come over you.

Now, this was just Ascension Parish's state qualifying meet. I am sure when you get up to state, nationals, and international, it gets pretty overwhelming.

A kid that use to live across the street from me was an international Special Olympian. He had traveled the world competing in diving, tennis, Bocci, and Track.

It was a very serious matter. He trained all the time.

I did when I was at Keesler AFB in MS and I recently did again here in AK. Most rewarding volunteer opportunity that I've ever taken part of.

I have 5 times at Southeastern, my nephew has Down's syndrome. It's a really great weekend every year and Southeastern does a really good job at hosting

I volunteered one year and it's something I'll never forget. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, the athlete I sponsored or myself.
