Anyone have experience with a septoplasty or rhinoplasty?

Sitting in my ENT's office waiting to find out if I need surgery to correct my deviated septum (fwiw it was caused by all the blow I was doing with my hookers).
I wouldn't be getting a rhinoplasty, but my doctor told my the septoplasty surgery is very similar.
I'm scared OT. Hold me.

I had it done years ago. When they fixed my deviated septum, the doc shaved down the bump I had in my nose. Only thing I really remember was when the remove the packing a few days after surgery. Holy shite, that was brutal.

I had a deviated septum corrected about 4 years ago. I had chronic sinusitis, and they had to correct my septum before they could do the endoscopy on my sinuses. As the above poster mentioned, I could not believe how big the plastic stints were when they pulled them out of my nose a couple of weeks later. Anyway, there's nothing to it. The only part that sucks is when the anesthesia first starts to wear off, but you get to take something to counter that.

had the septoplasty done in law school when some a-hole elbowed my nose in rugby practice, and broke it. Doctor said it looked like shite up there, scraped it out and fixed the break. some dude over there by OLOL. Never had a problem since.

Huge, huge, nasty boogers for months.

Ok so frick...
ENT told me I have 35-45% deviation. Recommended I get a septoplasty yesterday.

There's nothing to be worried about. Your nose will be a little uncomfortable while the stints are still in, but it's not terrible. I'm glad as frick that I had the surgery. Now I can pass a sinus infection. I used to just suffer with them for months at a time because my right sinus was completely clogged.

I have chronic sinusitis and was told by an ENT that I needed endoscopy and my septum fixed. My septum is so deviated I basically have one big nostril. This was several months ago and I can't make myself go through with it. Honestly, how long were you down? Are you pleased with the results?
Also, I have read that the septoplasty can change the outward appearance of your nose. I don't want to come away from the surgery with a wonky nose...
I keep a sinus headache and I've started having daily nosebleeds from all the crap I spray up my nose...

I've had two deviated septum surgeries. My nose was 90% blocked. First one was about 45 minutes long. Had surgery on Thursday back to work Monday. Recovery wasn't to bad, just uncomfortable more than anything.
Apparently that doc botched things up. Never got better and four years later I had a second one. This one was 4 hours and I was out of work for a week and recovery was a bitch. Doc said not only did he have to correct the septum again but had to remove a lot of scar tissue, etc.
So glad I had it done. Breathe much better, no daily headaches and sinus pressure and my nose is actually able to drain now.
Pulling the stints afterwards does hurt bad but one of those deals where it only hurts for a second. Once the doc pulls them out its instant relief.

I've never heard of this, my nose didn't change shape at all.

The guy who said removing the packing was brutal was so right! I almost died. But overall not too horrible a surgery. If I can do it anyone can- I'm a big baby.

Twice.
Uncomfortable for a few days but you'll be fine.
Stop being a bitch.

Anyone have experience with Chronic Sinusitis recovery. I have the Surgery scheduled (FESS, Septo, possible Turbinate Surgery as well) Basically clearing out of my sinuses, fixing my deviated septum and anything else that they find. Just looking for recovery time until I can start exercising and playing sports again. Already went through this a year ago and of course it's back so this time the surgery will be more extensive. fml

You'll live. Quit being a baby. Have a couple of bags of frozen peas ready to rotate, pain pills, and comfortable recliner to sleep in for a few days.

its not bad but when they take out the splints/packing it sucks and expect the tip of your nose to be numb/swollen for a few months its not to bad.

Felt like Mardi gras beads being pulled out of my nose.

Resume exercising, sports after about a week or longer?
