Anyone have any success thwarting mosquitos outside your house?

It'd be nice to be able to sit outside during the evenings. Do those zapper things actually work?

Do your best to find any sources of standing water around your house. Take extra care to look for old 5 gallon buckets or weird spots behind the garage. Eliminate those and it helps significantly. The bug zappers work but are unsightly.

I have some tiki torches with citronella.
Seems to work decently.

I just purchased a thermacell radius today, it has to charge for 5hrs so I can’t use it tonight. I’ll report back after using it this weekend.
My zapper does not work btw.

We have about ten of them surrounding our backyard pool area. You want the torches to cover the area regardless of wind direction.
Bug lights attract bugs and are noisy.

there a few things more satisfying than mixing up some permethrin in a sprayer and going into an infested yard and broadcasting that stuff into a swarm of mosquitoes.

I tried the Spartan mosquito eradicator canisters last year. Mosquito free since. Change out every 3 months. I have 2 set up at my house. $100 a year for no mosquitoes is nice.

Mosquito Joe works for us

Yes I agree. A friend at a farm co-op recommended the Spartans. I was pretty skeptical, but tried them last year with great success. So I bought more for this year and set them up early. They don’t “eliminate” mosquitos, but we probably have less than 10% of what we used to have.

Bats are great if you can attract them with a bat house. They eat thousands of mosquitoes every day. They are awesome.

Sadly these didn’t and still don’t work for me . Not in the least bit. Never noticed a difference. I also used 2 on opposite sides of the yard.
(Well shaded and well placed. And the water level volumes stayed immaculate.... I really really wanted them to work )
... I’m just outside New Orleans metro area. Last year I set them up late . This year I set them up early and keep them up to date.

Spartan mosquito traps. Just don’t put them by somewhere you want to be. They attract the shite out of mosquitos

I installed a MistAway system...55 gallon tank with 400feet of 1/4” tubing and 88 nozzle heads that spans my backyard and my neighbors yard. I tried everything before this with no success. The mister works, but doesn’t eliminate every one of them.
