I understand that lens replacement, similar to cataract surgery, is an option for vision correction instead of lasik. I’m going to talk to a doctor obviously, but I’m doing a bit of research in advance.

I’ve searched online but mostly find info about cataract surgery. Anyone have any experience with this?

Lens replacement for cataracts worked for me. Had it done about 2 ears ago. I'm 69 and have wearing glasses since 4th. grade...no more. I've got 20-20 vision per DMV. Still use readers from time to time.

i heard it was ridiculous expensive and that is why its only done for cataracts since there is no other option, not sure about if thats factual though.

i would definitely be looking into it myself if its relatively affordable without insurance paying for it.

im legally blind in one eye because of blurred vision that can only be corrected with wearing glasses and contacts at the same time just to be able to see only one fixed point 15-20 feet away

I contemplated this myself but decided to stick with glasses .Complication rate is very low with either procedure but what if you are that 1 in 200 people that have complication,
Glasses are a pia but I didn’t want to take chance.I talked with very good optometrist, older than me but he wore glasses. He said the risk wasn’t worth it in his opinion. If one has cataracts of course that is diffferent scenario.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Dr. LaHaye in Laffayete did lasik on both my eyes a little over 20 years ago. I had coke bottle glasses before and hadn't wore a pair of glasses since.
won't b long i'll have to use cheaters to read, but that is just from the natural degradation of the eye, not from the lasik procedure. I don't know anything about lens replacement, but lasik worked for me.

it was $1800 an eye when I did it, but the price has come down. it was still experimental surgery when I had it done.

I never realized they could replace your lens. That’s remarkable.

No,he didn’t say how much it costs ,several years ago.I know the lens replacement costs more and is expensive.Lasik is cheaper but I didn’t really investigate it since I decided to stick with glasses, pia that they are.

same here, i did mine in 1993 and it was about the same price.

a bacterial eye infection ate up my eye lens and deformed one of them like a crater so i need contacts to make a round surface, then glasses to correct the vision but only as far as to focus at a specific distance point. then i cant see shite or drive because everything up close is so blurry i cant even guess at the numbers on the speedometer.

this is why i think lens replacement is the only fix for my bad eye

I could get lasik, but I would still have to wear readers. I’m hoping to avoid that.

I had PRK through the military and I don’t have any complaints.
