Well, it's summer travel season....duh

You can go to Houston main office at George Thomas "Mickey" Leland Federal Building, 1919 Smith Street and get one in 24 hrs. Just need proof of travel with you and believe you can do walk-in.

So I just recently ran into this problem. I expedited mine back in May. As of last Thursday it still said processing. I leave Saturday for Cabo. I wrote my Senator’s office and expressed my urgent situation. After a few emails back and forth, my passport was in the mail Friday, got it Monday.
Try Steve Scalises office. They replied to my initial email within an hour. Very helpful people.

Contact your US Rep. We did this a couple weeks ago, and they helped get it resolved in less than a week. It was odd actually getting assistance from a politician. But give them credit they came through.

didn't read the thread but your best bet is to go to the passport agency office of your choosing within 72 hours of your trip. appointments for any given day open up two weeks in advance. you need to book right when that day opens up up (e.g. for an appointment on 8/6, you have to book at 12:01am tonight - confirm the timing).
if you send your passport off under the notion of it being expedited, you're fricked this close to your trip. I have done a few international trips with friends during covid and this seems to be the best rush option.
ETA: apparently you have to call as of yesterday LINK

Guess you missed the part where he said it was destroyed. Don't be a dick.

I've also been hearing it takes about 18 weeks. Super backed up.

I had two absolutely wonderful women call from different Senators offices and give me the same instructions. Both assured me if I follow directions, I will have it within a week.
I have never had to call a politician for a "favor" before, but I am absolutely shocked at the response time and over the top willingness to help with my situation. After dealing with the actual passport offices/website, I have some faith in humanity restored. These ladies will be receiving hand delivered gift baskets after the wedding with pics of what they made possible.
Thanks for everyone with all the advice.

Closing southern border? My trip is to Mexico for my wedding. Long story short, my passport was destroyed recently and I realize I’m out of time. Clearly desperate.

They love doing this little dumb shite for us plebes.
They know it is the least they can do for fricking us all the rest of the time.
Plus, you're an awesome campaign worker for life now.

Pretty much
I am still shocked at their willingness to help. I hate calling and asking favors, but the ones that called back seem personally invested now and that means the world to me.
