It's going to suck sitting there freezing waiting for that tub to drain so you can open the door and get out.

Hopefully by the time I'm this old, I'll have so much money I can just pay someone to help me out the tub

This is true. My grandmother had one at a cost of several thousand. It was never used because you have to wait tok drain the water before opening the door.

I thought that one of their selling points was how quickly it drained...

Don't know. I imagine it can only drain as fast as the sewerage/plumbing to which it is connected. Her house was older in Metairie. Just know it was used o not a few times. My familky is currently prepping the house to sell and having it removed.

I definitely think this is one of those ideas that is better in theory than actuality. There are other safe bathing options for older or physically impaired people that are cheaper and easier day to day.

I would just build an open shower that I could put a chair in or roll a wheelchair in. use a hose shower handle thingy

Put another drain in the middle of the bathroom floor and open that bitch up.

You have to let the water drain because the pressure prevents the door from opening. Similar to why you have to open a window to equalize the pressure in order to open the door in a submerged automobile.

I would imagine it also takes a while to fill as well--and you have to be in it with the door locked closed while it slowly fills.

Neat concept, but execution is lacking for many older homes with older plumbing.

Except in that scenario the greater pressure is outside the car and the car is sealed.

With the bathtub the greater pleasure is inside the tub and the air above the water can move freely because it isn't sealed with the ceiling.

I hope your post is a troll and you're not that retarded.

True, but the door opens inward...against the pressure.
