That's cool. I've looked at it and wondered. I'm guessing he's trying for his PGA card. Good luck to him. I saw Andrew Loupe on the news today as he just got his.

They're just old and slow but simple to fix. Lots of little stuff always nickel and dimeing you to death.

Thanks. We'll see. His first tournament got rained out in Dothan a couple of weeks ago. He's got another one in a week or two I think. He's got Andrew Loupe talent nes his own worst enemy inside his head. If he can figure that part out he'll make a living off of it.

My husband and I camped cross country a few times. We had a ford escape and a small tent. Much more comfy. Use your car exclusively for supplies. Buy a annual national park pass and camping is very cheap. Most parks allow 14 days per campground which helps save on gas. Gives you lots of time to hike and explore. Most national parks have potable water and flush toilets but most are missing showers. We would just drive out and pay for showers at KOAs and once every 15 days or so we would stay in a hotel and do laundry. Lots of dry foods are very cheap. Nuts, berries, canned tuna Etc we also ate a lot of cliff bars. Make sure you have room in the vehicle for water if you camp the desert. Lastly, look for the most gas efficient vehicle not the biggest. You will spend more time outdoors....those were some of the best days of my life. Enjoy it, that freedom is fleeting.

I want to know how people take off for long periods of time to do this travel. A lot of them do not even save up money.

Those VW vans are very popular and will certainly cost a lot, especially if in good shape.
I think it depends on what you really want to see. Figure that out first, then look to see what's common to those sites such as national parks, national forests, state lands, and so on. The point about getting passes to various national forests is a good idea, just remember some lands are state, some are national so you have to look and check.
If you have good credit I'd look into simply leasing a new vehicle for one of those short term cheap leases. Maybe you could lease a Lincoln and travel around and play cards like Mi-con-a-hey.

I was a travel nursing at the time so we sprinkled assignments in the mix for about 2 years.

You must have to work a real adult job for a while, or have family to give it to you.
When I finished college, even though I worked along the way, I had maybe enough cash for a short and shitty spring break. Going cross country was out of the question.

I would love to do this considering I have a weird van fetish and have never been west of Tennessee.
