Use to get them all the time through college. Doctor told me when you feel one coming on pinch your nose, tilt your head back, take a deep breath, close mouth and try to blow air out nose. It will cause pressure to build up and help drain the build up in the ear. Hardly get them now days. And when do use this method

My 24 year old son has one right now. His first since he was two. His ear felt clogged so he went to the dr to get it cleaned out and she found infection. He said it never hurt, but he has an extremely high tolerance for pain.

Not an infection but about 15 years ago I realized my hearing was leaving me in one ear. Doc referred me to specialist. Tumor in canal. Procedure was slicing the back of the ear so it could be flapped over creating clear passage into the canal. Tumor removed. Benign! Ear stitched back up.

I used to get 6 ear infections a year. Tight neck muscles kept the fluid on my ears from draining. I started regular massage therapy and have not has one since.

I started getting them pretty frequently a few years ago. My ENT told me to make a soln 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% acetic acid (white vinegar). Put a couple of drops in your ears every day after swimming or shower. It helps dry the ear out.

Turned out to be great advice because I haven't seen him for an earache since.

I had a recurring ear infection and doctor recommended taking a daily allergy pill, seems to be working.

Never had an allergy or other allergy symptom.

You should apply for handicap placard, too.

I had one last year that was awful. Finally found an old school ENT who put a tube in my ear and gave me a steroid shot. Next day I was back to normal.

First two docs I saw just told me to take ear drops. F that

Also I now know why babies are so miserable when they have an ear infection.

Sinus and double ear infection today, steroid shot in the arse and antibiotic. Should have went Monday but let it drag on. Had 9 sets of tubes and 2 busted ear drums, ear issues are a bitch.

shite, I wish that was what caused it.

I was working at the WMT regular store in electronics dept.
it was almost closing time and they needed help rounding up buggies. It was cold and lite rain.

That’s most likely where it came from.

I had a series of them when I was a young man. Could hear my heart beating through my ear. Extended pain for a few days.

Yep…that shite was miserable. I suggest the following:

- Take antihistamines

- use some Afrin nose spray

- drink as much water as you can stomach

- take hot showers

Get a heating pad

After Covid my sinuses are still all fricked up. My tonsils got pulled out and were so bad they were rested for cancer, and the doc thinks my euclusian tubes got messed up as well. Flying is a hit or miss if the pressure will build and hurt.

I relay this to my patients. There’s actually a study out there where they had patients do what you’re describing (the valsalva maneuver) about 30 times a day and found it was basically as effective as antibiotics. It forces open the Eustachian tube and gets the fluid from the middle ear draining again.
