Just curious if it's just me... We normally get a refund and this year owe a fortune. Married and filing jointly

Just more income is what changed and it made a 7k swing in refund/ owed

Each tax bracket is taxed on the amount above the lower bracket.

For example. If you made 100k as a married couple, the first 18,450 is taxed at 10%, the next 56,450 at 15%, and the last 25,100 at 25%.

Of course, this doesn't include deductions/adjustments. But so many people think that all of your money is taxed at the same amount once you change tax brackets. Not the case.
