CP is a good school, or it was back in the day. Lots of school spirit, a chance for kids to compete in sports and other activities, smaller teacher to student ratio, discipline, and a place to learn rather than an institutional detainment facility for kids during the day.

Depends on your options. If Zachary or Central City school systems, stay public. If EBRP or Baker system, go CP, assuming you live out there. Lots better private schools in BR though.

Back in the early '80s, some of the kids still had gun racks in the back window of their trucks. Never once worried about guns at the school. Also, all the teachers had paddles the first couple of years. Plus when I transferred from 2nd grade public school to 3rd grade CP, I was so far behind. Teacher had to stay after class to help me catch up. Took one year but after that I was far ahead of friends in public school.

With the rise of the Central public schools, Central Private has lost some of it's reason for being.

I've heard it's close to closing down.

All I know is that I used to envy the hell out of those students. Every time a damn speck of water fell from the sky, the school cancelled classes for the day.

They're good at baseball.

In comparison to the class of competition......I'd say they are about the equivalent of a top 5 1A or a top 10 2A team.

Yea we played summer ball against all the public school teams and waxed arse. This is late 90's. 4 championships in a row. 8 guys from the 2000 team had a baseball scholarship to d1 or juco.

Do you happen to have any first-hand knowledge of the difference in education between CPS and the Central Community School system?

Not much at all. Like an earlier poster said most of CP is kids who live in Northeast's district.

My kids went there early on, before the Central School district. It is a strict close knit community, and yes it is strongly Baptist. The education and discipline really set my kids up for success in their later school years.

Rb, silliman sucked and still does.

Central Private beat them in a double header one day only playing like 11 innings because they ten run ruled y'all idiots.

Idk what they're doing now. Not where I graduated. (Not that I keep up with my former HSs)

I just know when I played there, CP was a stepping stone in all sports. When I went there they were winning state championships in football and baseball.

Silliman would get beat by 30-40 points by CP in Sillimans own gym in basketball in the early 2000's. One of the first warm up games of the season. Baseball was worse in the late 90's, games would be over by the 4-5th inning
