Anybody have a spouse with rheumatoid arthritis?

I have an auto that gives me similar symptoms. Changing my diet has been very effective.

Rheumatoid arthritis can be debilitating. Lots of aches and it really slows a person down. My parents both had it, and I have it too.
There are specific treatments for it, I just take a specific aspirin for it now, but there are other treatments too now.

Elder mother does. No one here would want to see her hands and feet in pictures. I've watched a truly physically beautiful woman literally deteriorate since she was 44 before my eyes. My advise is please do not settle on less than the best RA MD. If this is new and you are seeing joint inflammation take it seriously and treat with injections as required. I will also say I regret daily not having given my mother the chance to see what cannabis or CBD oils could have done. I know it could've helped but we never did it.

My wife tested negative, but in the last couple of weeks she's seeing symptoms of something similar. Swollen, painful joints and some rashes on her forearms. Waiting to hear back on some blood work from the rheumatologist. Steroids help, but it comes back as soon as they're out of her system.

I have it. Methotrexate didn't work alone, but the Humira worked wonders.
It's not bad if the meds work, but it's AWFUL if it doesn't.

i just got tested for it and other autoimmunes. I'm not optimistic about the results.

I've got ankylosing spondylitis, which is under the arthritis/inflammation umbrella. I cut out all desserts and refined sugar stuff, gave up the booze, and limit the starches. Haven't had a pain flare up since.

my mom has it...which means I may have it one day.
it can range from disabling to mild, and no one has any idea why.
at some point, she will likely hurt a lot in the mornings.
if you start seeing it affecting her joints, I would try to get her on some of the immunosuppressant injections. they are outrageously expensive and have some side effects that will scare you to death, but the benefits often outweigh the risks, in my experience.
get her lined up with the best rheumatologist you can manage and get used to lots of doctor visits for the rest of her life.
fwiw, don't be surprised if she gets some psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis too at some point, because all of that is related.
lastly, it is a pretty rough disease, but lots and lots of people respond well to treatments and have perfectly long, normal lives.

I avoid processed carbs, sugar, any added sugar, and gluten like it is poison. If I screw up, my body attacks itself. Makes me want to play in traffic. The meds I was given crushed my immune system, but the diet has been as effective. I don't take anything minus Advil now.

I was thinking the same after reading a couple of threads here about it. sounds like we should both get off our asses to see if it will help.

I am sorry if she does have it. It depends as to how bad it can be. My father had it in his knees, mild compared to my mother. It ate her alive, spine, knees, and her hands were a horror story. Everything they basically tried was a shite show. Pathetic Doctor, but to them, he was the hometown hero.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago. It is in my knees. I have modified my diet, somewhat. I could do better about that, but it would mean no liquor and I do enjoy a beer and bourbon on occasion. My knees feel like they are literally on "fire". They are right now!

All males in my immediate family, and her toughness and pain tolerance puts us all to shame.
I don't have any advice, but I think medical advancements are on a good trajectory for you.

Humira,Enbrel, and Stelara are all great meds.
