Looking to get a room on a Saturday night in New Orleans next month. Trying to get the French Quarter or Warehouse District area. Was curious if anyone had any success using the Name Your Price option and how cheap have you gotten rooms in the past.

I've used it for hotels and cars. I just pick one of the top two tiers and start at a ridiculously low price. You should be able to get a good deal at a decent hotel.

Problem is, you can't pick and choose.

ETA:
Looks like I've booked the Marriott on canal on a Saturday night for $100/night
Marriott at fishermans wharf in SF for $70/night
Hilton in Seattle for $50/night
And a whindam in downtown St. Louis for $100/night

I used to get rooms at the intercontinental and the renaissance for like 35 bucks in 2009-2012. I haven't used it lately, but if you have the time and patience you should get a room at a pretty good rate.

Thanks. I just tried $75 but it didn't go. I'm sure the day of the week and what is going on in the city during that time come into play. After I tried once, it tells me I either have to choose a lower tier hotel rating or expand my area. If I don't do either of those options then I have to wait 2 hours to try again.

Used it once and it worked out pretty good... I was attending the wedding in the Quarter, and didn't book a room at the wedding party hotel. Used it last minute and it put me in the Hyatt Regency. I had to take a cab a couple times, but that wasn't too bad. Now that uber has a larger presence, I'd do it again.

Can't remember specifics, I want to say it was about 25% less than what I normally see that hotel going for.

Yes. Got a damn good deal on a rental car a few years ago. Not sure how I'd feel about using it for hotels though. I'm relatively picky about that sort of thing.

You're looking too early. For "name your price" you should name a price during the week you want to go. I have gotten a room at the Omni Royal Orleans for $75, the Westin at Canal Place for $80. But it needs to be close to the day you are going. They are selling left-over rooms.

I used it a lot back when I was in college. That was a while ago. I used it for flights and hotels.
Stayed in NOLA using Priceline the night of bacchus for like $100.
Drawback on hotels is they only usually have one bed. Often worst room in the hotel. You don't pick the hotel.
Flights they can be tricky multiple layover, and even worse weird connections. Fly from NOLA to Denver to Atlanta.
I did very well in NYC with name your own price option.
Now that there's TD, I'm an OT baller and no need for discount travel.

I usually use the express deals instead. You can basically figure out what hotel it is by the ratings and they are 2 external sites that show all possible hotels

I use it all the time. The trick is that you have to search for the hotels you want and the star ratings and then gradually add more options as you place consecutive bids to get the lowest prices. It is a bit complicated, but I generally can get a good hotel in the downtown/convention center area for less than $70 depending on what is going on in NOLA that weekend.

Yes. New Orleans is easy. Since you know where you want to be. Just click downtown/canal and 3 stars. Offer $65 to $70 and you'll get the Marriott.
