Anybody ever lived in Dayton, Ohio?

Thinking about buying a condo there after I retire to be close to my grandkids for part of the year.
Cincinnati is great. Dayton an hour farther north, and I suspect it is quite lame. Low crime and a lot of house for the money, it would appear.

All I got is University of Dayton is a Catholic school despite a mundane generic city name

I lived kind of close. The area around Kettering and Centerville is great. Huber Heights or Beavercreek is good depending on where.
I remember there were very good wing places to eat and drink cold beer. Looked it up...Roosters and Frickers.

Yep. I keep looking for a 2nd house in Traverse City, MI or something like that.

The only thing worth seeing in Dayton is the Air Force museum, which is pretty awesome. It’s a typical dull midwestern city, but most middle class people are moving to surrounding suburbs. As with most cities, this means it’ll be majority-minority sooner or later, as more honkies flee to suburbia. Is the condo in Dayton proper, or one of the Suburbs?

Ngl Dayton is kind of a shite hole, even by Ohio standards. Never lived there, but I've been there many times. If that's where your family is, I'm sure there are fine areas, but if you're going general-southwestern Ohio, I'd look into Hamilton instead

Centerville and Kettering weren't dumpster at all last I knew. Good solid suburbs with very good public schools.
I also remember going to a few Dragon games. Awesome stadium downtown and was fun. But other than that the city sucks but the burbs are very nice and close to Cincinnati and Kings Island.

I lived in Huber Heights for 6 years, and we loved the area. The Dayton beer scene exploded over the last 10 years, so if you are a craft beer drinker, you won't be disappointed. Deer hunting is fantastic, as is a lot of outdoor activity. The parks are top notch, also. Dayton itself can be a shithole in certain areas, but I wouldn't hesitate to move back if I had to.

Does not compute. Dayton is a shithole.
