Any ideas on how (if it is even possible) to make my pulleys hang down instead of inward due to the tension?

Affix them to something rigid and not a hook?

They are hanging from a hook. Solid mount them to the ceiling and they won't tilt

Change the setup. The pulleys look like a bad homemade setup and are not achieving the "rustic" look you were going for. Sorry, not trying to be an a-hole.

Yeah. Take the cord off of them. Otherwise, No.

They look fine to me as is.

Your pulleys are floppy and limp. You need pulleys that are rigid and straight.

I agree with this, similarly in the nicest way possible.

Too nice of a crib not to have the light mounted straight out of the ceiling.

I have no overhead outlet and I wanted overhead lighting. It's a vintage cloth cord and it is tied off on a cleat at the base boards before it runs to the plug.

ETA: I don't own the place so I wasn't gonna pay an electrician to install a ceiling outlet.

Is that a plug-in accent lamp you are using as a chandelier?
