With the short week, I'd be surprised if all the judges are working. You'll prolly be dismissed after lunch, for the week.

They kept me for two days and ultimately dismissed all the 300 or so they called. How often do they do this, and how much does it cost?

Should I be concerned?

It costs a lot. 300+ people at $12ish a day plus mileage.

People settle or take plea deals walking into the courtroom so trials set for the latter days of the week still needed a jury pool on hand until that moment.

Can't they hold you in contempt if you dress like a jackarse?

ETA- not that you are, but I don't think you can wear hats in a court room

I was dismissed immediately for some hmmm, 'indiscretions' in my past. I also had an ex-girlfriend that was there for a week hearing a medical malpractice case. Missing work for a week sucked for her, but she found the entire experience kinda interesting. I think the plaintiff won, but it was a while back so I'm not real sure.

That part is easy enough to figure out. My question is how often do they call such large pools? Is it a weekly thing? Monthly? On average, how many of those who are called, serve?

Tons of lids in this room. No shorts, flip flops or tank tops.

In BR there could be multiple trial in multiple courtrooms. Only 12 plus maybe two alternates serve for each trial, so not many actually get picked.

Looks like 3 judges holding criminal jury trials, Higginbotham, White and Daniel. What a cluster. Good luck in there Ruzil. Higginbotham has around 10+ trials set.

I'd be so po'd if I had to waste my time and my decision didn't even matter.

Anyone care to share a hardship story that worked.

We felons don't have this problem.

Again, in BR, at least, they also draw from DMV records.

The most shocking thing to me was that they had no usable Wifi. It was just a crappy Linksys router in the lobby area that didn't work to any usable extent. For the many thousands of dollars they waste on unused jurors, they could at least provide reliable Wifi.

Seems to me that municipalities would try and make citizens more comfortable and the experience as pleasant as possible. The whole "its your duty. sit down and take it" approach is not very nice.
