Did a little wikipediaing while watching Narcos. I always thought the country was one big hot humid rainforest.
But all the big cities are on a high Andean plateau. Medellin is around 5500', similar to Denver. Bogota is at over 8000'.
And since its at the equator, its pretty much the same temperature every day. Average temperatures every day: Medellin highs around 80, lows around 60. Bogota highs mid 60s, lows high 40s.
Sounds like a great climate.
And statistically Medellin is now safer than Chicago, Detroit and Baltimore. Bogota very safe.

Went to Panama and Costa Rica fishing for 10 days. Never been so hot or sun drained in my life. (And it was March)

Worked with a guy that went to Panama for a week. Said it was miserable.

Driving from airport to the hotel in Panama City was unreal. They were 4-wide on a 3 lane road. Literally looked like a war zone till we got to the El Panama Hotel which was surprisingly alright.

Up US 165, yeah. Not much to it, a bridge and a few businesses along the highway.

Yes, I read your post and I understand the basic geography and terrain of that area. In fact, I wasn't even responding to you.

I've been twice. Flew in once and drove across the border from Venz once. Everything is so cheap, you can't believe it.

Went to Cartagena, Medillin, and Bogota last March with some buddies.
Let's just say we have a don't ask, don't tell policy regarding that trip.
10/10 would recommend...

How can you Wiki watching that show? Love it, but my eyes have to be glued to it due to the subtitles.
