Asian Giant Hornets have a black mildly fuzzy thorax:



His has a yellow and black thorax.



The yellowjacket he photographed has the distinctive point (hard to see in his photo, but it is there) on the black stripe on the abdomen. It also has the spots on the abdomen.

Nope - no spots on abdomen and a predominantly black thorax. The European Hornet has a pair of points on the black stripes on the abdomen instead of the spots.
