Pretty sure that's the first post of yours I've read that wasn't in 3rd person.

My English Bulldog was the best dog I have ever owned. Great with kids, laid back watch the football game with you kind of dog. Make sure the pup you get has clear nasal passages, it will help with the slobbering a little. Snoring and farting machines to be sure. Like it has been said they don't do heat. Great dogs but high maintenance, they can be hard headed little shits to train. They try to be 60-70 pound lap dogs as well.

I am thinking about getting a GSP, Bull Terrier or a Dobie.

ETA: OP I have a friend that breeds EB. They seem to have a good line going. Thay are awesome dogs but like others have said, they cost alot and have a good bit of issues.

The sad part is that they have shortened lifespans due to their medical issues.

Our previous one lived 14.5 years.

Our current one is about 5.

Scruffy done fricked up...

Check out the Bull Terrier.

They aren't aggressive, they are very loyal, and they have a very high threshold for pain which makes them great for younger kids.

My uncle used to have english bull dogs. He said he would never get another because of the health issues. The cost is one thing, but you also have to see the poor things deal with the issues and suffer more than other breeds to some extent as they age.

It might have just been his dog. I don't know, but Bubba was also up there as the dumbest dog I have ever met.

Nah..

Wife is a vet. All of our dogs will live a loooong time.

The two previous cats were 18 & 17 before finally hanging it up.

By far the best dog I've ever had. As a breed, they are very good with kids and family. They are not aggressive at all. If you get the right food for him/her, it will cut out the gas and skin issues for the most part. Yes they do require a degree of maintenance like cleaning the wrinkles and around the tail but their clown demeanor and clumsy personality more than make up for it in the long run.

Here is mine taking a quick nap while standing with his favorite chicken on his way to the living room for another nap. He has a very hard life.

Maybe I missed your post, but what are your thoughts on the breed? I'm sure having a wife as a vet helps.

They are great.

Very easy going and great family dogs. Everyone is right on the heat. They can easily get heat stroke on a relatively cool day if they get too crazy outdoors for a long period.

Hip dysplasia is usually bad in this breed, too.

Current one:

Get an American bulldog, it'll do something besides suffocate in its own skin.
