Any desk workers make the switch to a standing desk?

Thinking about getting one of these but haven't ever worked at a desk standing up. If you have, what are your thoughts?

I'm getting a motorized lift for my desk's middle section (where my monitors are) installed in a couple of weeks.

Pumped...a couple of my coworkers were guinea pigs last budget year and they love them.

Now I'll be wanting one of these:

Best decision I ever made. Just make sure you get a good mat.

Yes, have been standing now for months.. will never sit again. Some that have tried complain of lower back issues and some are just lazy as f.

Do you sit periodically? I'm worried about not paying attention to locking my knees. They tend to get pretty tight in my older age if I stand for too long and don't move around enough.

Yes. You need to mix it up. Don't just stand and don't just sit.

They say sitting is the new smoking.

I used one for a while, then I just decided to sit my lazy arse back down.

Have a varidesk.....hand operated, no motors, but I sit and stand through out the day. Actually fixed my back pain which is nice.

Probably 50/50 on sit/stand ratio through out the day.

This is what I would ultimately like to have.

From what I have read, it is excellent for your back. I wonder if those who complained about lower back pain were using it as an excuse to sit down again.

If $595 is a little steep, I know Knape and Vogt sells one that I think you can get sub $300.

Not as sexy, but it's fully adjustable. Can still fit two monitors on it.

I have to run 3 monitors, plan to see about mounting them to the wall and have just a pop up keyboard holder desk-thing.

Same here...I don't think any of the non-motorized versions are strong enough for this...at least not the ones I have looked at.

Look at getting a drafting chair to go with it. You don't have to lower your desk and you can mix standing and sitting.
