Lately I've had family members bombarded through social media and their friends selling Limu magical drink, Pampered Chef magical kitchen tools, and Nerium magical skin lotion.

It's ridiculous how many soccer moms and granny's get sucked into buying this stuff from people who I aggregate into the category of worthless salesman (car salesman, most realtors, primerica financial shite etc.)

All of the people that work at the bar I go to almost daily started selling this crap last week. They ALL have been harassing me about joining, it is getting annoying. They also all think they will have a new Lexus within the next 30 days, I guess that is the prize from the company if you sell a lot!

Why wasn't Primerica included in your list?

Actually, I did some research and the new Lexus, BMW, Mercdes thing seems to be the latest bait for these fools. My brother in law worked for Vi (among others) and got a "new BMW." That is he got $600 per month towards a 5 year lease on a new BMW cuz ho sold enough stuff and recruited two others (weight loss cures no less) to have Vi give him $600 to be spent on BMW in certain color with a Vi advert on it (not making this up). He has to keep up sales and find other fools and they keep paying $600...even let you miss 1 month! Great deal right? Well on month 4 everyone he ever knew had unfriended him and he is now stuck paying for a car he cannot afford. But no fear, he is on to something new called YBR...and NOW he will make a millions...

I don't think Pampered Chef is really in the same category. They actually make products that you can use everyday. They actually make some pretty nice kitchenware.

Some people just need to be led. It's an unstoppable thing.

good point and part of it but IMHO it is about wanting $$$ and not wanting to work for it. Has to be some scheme where you recruit others and work "only a few hours per day" grow up and get a job

Buy a copy of Dianetics and use it as a prop to act like you are recruiting them into Scientology.

i know people who make money on this. honestly, these are excellent sales people who got in when the company was young or had not over saturated the area(and had a decent product).

i know people who have made an exceptional amount of money on mary kay, amway, lumi juice, plexus... but these people were career women who are driven and opted to "go into business for themselves" to have more flexible hours with their children's schools schedules.

as far as advice for your family member, what would you tell a family member who was making a bad career choice of a different kind? I let my family do what they want and only give my opinion when asked.

You really don't think there are successful people with this kind of stuff? Who do you think keeps these "companies" around? Of course there are successful people, they are just vastly outnumbered by the people that fail.

i wasnt referring to the types of people who reek of desperation. and, im not at all advocating MLM companies. For the most part, I believe they are socially acceptable ponzi schemes.

however, I know 4 individuals who are successful with the companies i mentioned. for each of those individuals, I know dozens of people who have tried it and never even gotten the return on the investment in the initial start up kit they had to buy when they signed up their business.

Preemptively try to sell them on a "great moneymaking opportunity" you have for them.
