Another sign our society is doomed: Senior prom court names

Every morning I receive our local HS's email announcements. Today's included a paragraph reminding Seniors to vote for their prom King/Queen from this list:
McGwire
Maddux
Bryson
Taylor
Hallie
Taylor
There is only one name on there which is gender specific. WTF is with these parents? (Most are young Gen X with a few old millenials sprinkled in.) And WTF happened to the football team owning these courts? None of these little frickers are athletes.
If brings to mind this George Carlin bit.

These are the same names people have been mocking since they were in travel ball. They're growing up so it makes sense.
