Rear view video of the same incident from same car

It's weird that a guy with cameras all around his car happened to be there and remain completely calm the entire time

Let's see what the homicide statistics would be in New Orleans and Chicago if we passed laws making it illegal for black males to own guns in these cities.

You think these guys are legally carrying licenced firearms?

I'd imagine it's a pretty difficult thing to process in real time. I don't know what else he would be doing - have an instant conniption fit?

Why does he have cameras all around his car?

And have you ever been around a shooting?

I'm not in NOLA enough to know. It was dark enough, seemed like a good spot to get robbed.

I mean it is a pretty fabulous area.

I've lived uptown in New Orleans basically my whole life and have had no problems, neither has my family who are older than me. Be smart about it. If you live here long enough you get accustomed to what and what not to do. I don't plan on leaving New Orleans.

Good question. Who knows?

In the immediate vicinity? I don't think so, but I'm not quite sure. Have you? How would you think one would react if, say, in a car and driving through?

Uptown isn't worth the spotty neighborhoods, traffic problems, small / old homes, etc. - I guess if I grew up there it would be one thing and the "uptown culture" would maybe mean something to me. But I like having a yard and being able to run to the grocery store and back in under 30 minutes, etc. Plus newer housing options and a shorter commute to downtown. Really don't see myself moving uptown at any point. I like uptown for the restaurants and maple leaf, etc., but unless it is rush hour, a 10 minute drive down I-10 will get you just about anywhere you want to go.

I walked Bourbon St late last night. No issues but usual sketchy people near Canal and on the side streets.

None felt threatening but I tried to pay attention.

Cabbed back to the hotel though.

My wife and I used to make the trip to New Orleans every now and then for a quick weekend. I have zero desire now.....not worth it.

Once the house was broken into. Second time I opened up the gate to my driveway with my 3 year old in the backseat and two very nice natives flashed a pistol at me to car jack me but took off once they realized I had my son in the back seat. There has been a lot of issues the last few months. My neighborhood prior to the last 4 months has been fantastic
The Garden district, while a very nice area, is not what I would call a safe neighborhood. It is next to Central City as well as the former Melpomene projects. That area has had crime issues for years.
