My life improved much for the better when I started living it 1mph under the speed limit. No more road rage. No more stress. A little worse gas mileage I guess. Getting there 3 minutes earlier ain't worth being pissed off at everyone else the whole time trying to do it.

Yea, let's blame pawpaw for following the rules and not the reckless dickheads who don't have enough brain cells to comprehend that NOBODY is going to outrun the general speed of the traffic if there's any volume on the road.

Do people really think they get better fuel economy at 80 vs 60 mph?

Agree for a 1 hour drive

But a 10 hour drive averaging 10 mph faster gets you there over an hour faster

Yes, of course. I dont remember the math or anything, but going 100mpg is the optimal speed if I remember right. Any faster and you start making gas and the tank might overflow

It was proven unequivocally in a thread a while back.

Hey dummy, say you have to go 60 miles.

If you go one mile per hour, your car engine is on for SIXTY HOURS!

If you go 60 mph, the motor is on for ONE HOUR.

This example clearly proves that going faster saves fuel.

My buddy was dating a woman for a while who commuted from Houston to BTR, along the Basin bridge, every weekend to see him.

She held an MBA from LSU and was an accountant for Cap Gemini or one of those big firms.

Anyway, she received a ticket in the mail one time for going over 100 on that bridge. Helicopter registered the violation.

Even somewhat seemingly sane people lose their fricking minds on that bridge somehow.

That bridge is vortex of thoughtlessness.

In your example, you are right… but I can’t tell if this is a serious response.

To help pass the time.

This could never be done in this day and age. It's time to burn it all down and start over.

I remember when the bridge opened in '73.

Thanks for posting the video. Very interesting and informative.

And you're right, it would take a decade or more to construct the bridge today. And that would only come after a decade of debate and opposition to it being built at all.
