First mothers day for my wife and I'm fairly lost.

Outside of a gift card to her favorite store and a few bottles of wine I have no idea.

What are you getting for your mom or baby mama?

We don't usually spend alot of money on presents for each other (wife and I). We buy most of the stuff we need and prefer to spend stuff on experiences and such.

So, our gifts are usually small and things we wouldn't buy for ourselves. That being said, I bought my wife a slefie stick.

Kinda as a joke, but I know she will use it. We're taking a Disney cruise in June, going to Chattanooga in September, Royal Caribbean Dreamworks cruise next mardi Gras and Hawaii next April so I know she'll mock it, but I know she will use it.

For my mom, my brothers and I are going to pay off her yard services through the summer.

We are the same most of the time.

I know if I screw up her first mothers day I'm screwed.

Going to talk to my dad and brother about putting money up to get her a pistol. My dad recently moved, temporarily to Lake Charles for work for the next 1.5-2 years, and only goes home on the weekends.

Go on shutterfly and make a book with pictures of your kid and her since the kid was born. It will be a winner. I did one of pictures of my daughter from her first year, and it was a huge hit. I just ordered the one for 2nd year and it should be here Thursday (I make them on Blurb). If it hasn't been that long since the kid was born, you can make one of the kid being born.

You can also make a mother's day card and pickup at Walgreens or CVS and have pictures of the kid on it....another winner.

I AM NOT BEING A SMART-arse when I say start slow. If you blow it all out this year you'll have to top it next. And I'm not talking about expense or $ amount. I'm talking production value and quantitative effort. If you go huge romantic you're going to have to go "huger" next year. Be thoughtful and generous BUT reserved. My first mother's day gift was a photographer's portrait sitting for her and the daughter. She got a dress to match my kid's and they got dolled up, had some mommy daughter time and BAM, that picture is the focal point of our living room 18 years later.

gift cards are so impersonal. You can do better than that.

Just knocked out the shutterfly thing.

That should help a bunch.

Agreed.

You're better off booking something for her on an upcoming trip or something. If you're taking any vacations in the near future, look for nearby spas and book something like that.

I agree, but I usually give her a gift card to shite I know she needs but I would be lost picking out.

This will likely be Victoria Secret for her annual new bra and drawes run. I really think she would rather the gift card over what I would pick out for her to wear.

What do you mean this isn't comfortable?

If you guys send pics of your moms, I might be willing to make love to them for mother's day. I promise it will be the most heart felt, best gift they ever receive.

Why worry about the wife on mother's day? I mean, she's your wife....not your mom.
