Time will tell and hopefully you are correct. Just seems like a tough position to fill with quality.

Why? Good salary and free everything.

History shows it's been difficult.

Look at the wardens prior to him. Why couldn't better guys be found then? The place was a dump and deadliest prison in America prior to Cain. I can't imagine there will be a line of people wanting that job and could handle the demands of this level of a prison. Can they keep up with what he has built? We will know many years down the road.

Good thing, too. Depending on how shady things are, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he gets to return to Angola for a few years.

Gonna disagree here. With $150+k salary and free everything, I don't think finding a suitable replacement will be all that difficult.

Hopefully you're correct. I have no vested interest here. Just spectating.

Saw him on the news tonight. He's a walking caricature of the pig-eyed southern prison warden. It's time to retire these dinosaurs.

This is a crazy idea, but they could do a job search for someone with experience in jail administration. It can even be someone who doesn't have family members in Louisiana politics, or buddies in local real estate deals. They could even - gasp - hire someone from out of Lousiana who meets job requirements.

So, how many years did you work at a prison?

I thought so.

It's basically hearding cats and getting a small paycheck for keeping animals away from civilization.

You're giving too much credit to the powers that be. Won't happen. They will hire a good ole boy from within the system. Which is my point.

Boss Hogg. That's been my nickname for him for a long time.

And don't fret about finding his replacement. There are lots of good men who would love the opportunity to continue the good that Cain did at Angola. And make no mistake- he did a lot of good at Angola. He just also did a lot of things which are ethically questionable at best. The best way I describe his tenure is that he treated the prison as "his" prison and not as the property of the taxpayers for whom he was the caretaker. Of course lots of state government employees in positions of power do the same. He just has an ego big enough that he was pretty open about it.

With all the problem in this state what motivated the Advocate to pursue this investigation?

There is a real estate "deal" a minute in this state and many of them have question marks on them

Angola is, without question, Cain's prison.
