Seems like every week since last November there has been another forklift driver murdered after winning some money in a lottery.

Some states require you to identify. Sucks to win in one of them.

I recall when the original story was posted and they were thinking there were only a couple or a few people involved.

This part still gets me:

"When they came in, he said, 'don't do it bro. Don't do it in front of my kids. Please don't do it in front of my kids and old lady,'" Hendricks said.

Damn.

I'm guessing the lump sum amount (if that's what he opted for) was about half of that...around $250,000.

Edit - And as Retired Trucker noted, taxes took another half, so now you're down to $125,0000.

And you know he spent a nice chunk of it right off the bat. Probably bought a new car, treated his people, partied.

And it wasn't like he had even 50k just stacked up in his apartment.

What makes you think he spent his money frivolously?

I don't think these criminal masterminds even got a grand. Now they're going to do life. So stupid and senseless.
