Ancient Roman Coins Unearthed In Japan

I have read that the Romans made it to the New World more than a millennium before Columbus, but what were they doing in....Japan?

I would imagine that since physical currency actually had physical value back then, that Roman coins were traded along the silk road with other currencies. Wouldn't be surprised if eastern coins have/will turn up in the west.

Just because ancient Roman coins were found there doesn't mean ancient Romans were there. They could have been brought by a merchant or collector hundreds of years later.
