I see that ancestry.com is now offering DNA testing. It costs $99, but I can't tell from the site if the information it gives would be substantial enough to warrant doing it. Anyone here done it or thinking about doing it?

ETA: It's $99, not $500. Marijuana is good for you.

I don't need my DNA on file until the statute of limitations runs it's course.

$500?? I had it done with 23andme for $99 each, discounted for additional kits. I'd say start with the cheaper kits first.

Edited, it's $99 there, too.

Good point. Wait a minute. That means I can't do it at all.

I've done it, it's pretty cool. Nothing mind blowing or anything but it gives you a breakdown of where you are from. 40% Irish here

Would be worth it just for the right to use the Nword.

yeah I would think so. It broke down the percentages of areas and displayed a map. It actually said <1% Nigerian for me and I'm as white as they come. pretty funny.

Have used it extensively. If you are into genealogy it's a good deal. Worth the money.

I did it. It will link you to other relatives that have done it and will show your genetic makeup. I thought it was cool and pretty interesting

If I remember right, it says that it's better if a male member of the family donates his DNA. Not sure why.

Just incase you are female.
