It is currently at 28.07 feet. Flood stage is 29 feet. Makes me nervous when it gets this high. I hope the current forecast is correct that it will not get higher than 29 feet.

Previous high water events:
August 2016- 46.02 feet
April 1983- 41.50 feet
March 2016- 36.09 feet

I thought it got higher than 36 in March at the Denham gauge.

I passed over that river like 3 weeks ago it looked full then. I can remember growing up that it seemed like the Amite was always at or above flood stage.

I don't see any flood warnings from the National Weather Service concerning the Amite River. It does have a flood warning for the Pearl River that was issued at 7:39 last night.

You made her all moist and swole her up. You big dog you.

Nothing like swelling her up and making her flow

I should have at least got out of my truck and gave her golden shower or something. Now I am having remorse for not acknowledging her

It always gets high but only floods the low land around the river when we get a good winter or spring shower. Unless the river is projected to go 39ft or higher it is all good.

Only time to worry is if we had a SE wind for a few days to backup the river and more heavy rains coming between BR and SW Mississippi.

Coming across the river on I-12 yesterday and the water was real high and spreading... We got lucky that the so called 2nd storm didn't come through like they thought....
