Even Brazil has 26 metro areas of more than 1 million. Including 14 of more than 2 million and 10 of more than 3 million.

Those are both countries that have like 4 times the population of the US. I think it's safe to say that they both have more than 3 big cities, unless there are some 200 million + population cities that I don't know about.

Yeah, I mean, bull shite in the OP aside, the US is a very large and diverse country. It is the fourth largest country in the world in terms of physical size and the third largest in terms of population. Comparing it to an entire continent is not really fair.
